Maca powder has seen a dramatic change in the last 12 months. Chinese exporters bought over 50% of the maca crop in Peru before processing. This resulted in a huge increase in price for what little stock there was available in Peru. Organic maca powder was available for $7.00/kg in the first half of 2014 in August this price leapt to $60.00/kg.
If pricing recovers in 2015 hopefully any damage done to demand will be undone. Cacao is going form strength to strength in the UK with new chocolate and health bar manufacturers arriving into the market hopefully we can see this become an even more established product over the next year.
