At Freeworld Trading, we take pride in our partnership with the El Chorro community, who collect Brazil nuts from the Amazon rainforest in Bolivia. Our long-standing partnership has been a win-win for the community and our customers. The community has been Fair For Life (FFL) certified for three years, and we have seen the benefits of this training and support firsthand. We are pleased to have supported in the development of the community’s infrastructure, enabling them to organize the collection of Brazil nuts efficiently, increasing their production, and improving their overall living conditions.

The funds from FFL are allocated towards several critical areas including:

Medical Supplies

Vital for preventing and treating healthcare issues.

Working Equiptment

Including tools and clothing

Construction

Construction of raw material storage warehouse

Infrastructure

Improving road access to collection areas

The construction and Infrastructure investments in particular have lead to better product yields, facilitate growth at the collection level and bring sustainable benefits to the community.

We take great pride in being part of the empowerment to the community. As a result of being part of this project, they are able over time to improve their administration and organizational skills within the cooperative, and in turn apply for and be considered for governmental programs such as social housing. For 2023 a new social housing project has been approved and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact this will have on the lives of the families within the community.

Our partnership with the El Chorro project is a testament to our unwavering commitment to ethical sourcing and promoting sustainable and responsible practices. We believe that working together with communities like El Chorro, we can create a positive impact on both the environment and the people who rely on it for their livelihoods.
