Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9) underscores the importance of industry, innovation, and infrastructure for inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Despite the manufacturing sector’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, progress remains uneven, with global growth slowing down to 3.3% in 2022. The goal’s aim to double the manufacturing share in GDP by 2030, particularly in less economically developed countries, requires increased support and investment in advanced technologies.
One ambitious project that we are supporting is the long term reforestation project with the Chakobo community. The construction and installation of a research centre for a plant nursery aims to develop and nurture seedlings for reforestation efforts in the Amazon rainforest, contributing to its preservation and biodiversity.
The plant nursery research centre aligns directly with the sustainable industrialisation, and innovation aspects of SDG 9.
